Next regular election of the Ukrainian president may be tentatively slated for February 22, 2015, Mykhailo Okhendovsky, deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), has told the press, UKRINFORM reported.

He reminded that regular presidential election is held on the last Sunday of the last month of the fifth year of the president tenure, while the tenure itself counts off from the inauguration day.

Moreover, the CEC official emphasized that the electoral framework ended when the official election returns were released, i.e. at 04.00 p.m., February 14.

According to Okhendovsky, the presidential candidates, their authorized representatives at the CEC, election agents and official observers lost their status on February 15. The powers of constituency and precinct election commissions will expire on March 1.

He noted that after the electoral framework was over, Viktor Yanukovych has been Ukraine's newly elected president, but President Viktor Yushchenko will be in office until Yanukovych's swearing-in.

On February 14, the election authorities declared Viktor Yanukovych a winner of election runoff. A swearing-in ceremony of Ukraine's new president is set for February 25.
