International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said IMF would resume cooperation with Ukraine after presidential election, National radio reported. He said that the fund had closely cooperated with Ukraine and that the country had managed to make payments on its foreign commitments in December, including payments for Russian gas.

"W are working very closely with the Ukrainians. It's not that easy, but I guess it won't be easy in other countries with this kind of election and this kind of institution. We made the gas payment to Russia being done, the situation is quiet even if there are some pressures on the economy", he said. The country's presidential election will be held on January 17, while a probable second round of voting is scheduled for February 7.
