Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said that Ukraine may obtain the
next tranche of the IMF loan only after the Verkhovna Rada adopts the
State Budget for 2010.
By the end of this year, the Ukrainian government and IMF plan to
approve a decision on further cooperation. "This is a completely
different model of cooperation that does not involve additional
borrowing of money," she explained.
According to the Prime Minister, the State Budget for 2010 was not adopted because parliament refused to consider it.
"The fact that the country is entering 2010 without a budget is the
direct responsibility and fault of those parliamentary factions that
didn’t consider the budget that was submitted by the government on
time", Yulia Tymoshenko said during a press conference in the Cabinet
of Ministers.
Yulia Tymoshenko stated that the government does not agree with the
decision of the Verkhovna Rada to return the draft bill on the state
budget for 2010 for revision. "We don’t consider the budget as subjected for revision. It remained in parliament. The parliament failed to fulfill
its functions," she explained.
