The Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc will already next week ensure the passing of
the bill on the presidential election, which will fully prevent any
possibility of falsification, according to Tymoshenko's official web-site.
"We prepared this bill on the presidential election, which was
approved by the coalition’s factions and according to our information,
the President also will sign this bill. Obviously, this bill will be
adopted in next week’s plenary session. I don’t rule out that this will
happen by December 22, on Tuesday," said Serhiy Mishchenko, member of
BYuT and one of the bill’s co-authors.
According to him, the bill foresees a series of provisions, which
make it impossible to falsify the election: "First, making changes to
the voter list later than two days before election day is prohibited.
According to our calculations, if this provision wasn’t there, then in
the last two days prior to January 17, a million "dead souls" could be
added throughout Ukraine…at that, in the first place, in the eastern
regions. If this were to happen, this would be the largest
falsification…Second, the bill outlines the procedure for home voting
when a minimum of two territorial election commission representatives
from separate political forces visit the home of a senior citizen or
person with a disability."
Serhiy Mishchenko stated that the bill also standardizes voting
outside of Ukraine: "The law clearly outlines that changes to voter
lists outside the country also can be made no later than two days prior
to election day."
At the same time, he emphasized that the Party of Regions is doing
everything possible for the bill not to be considered. But, according
to his estimates, irrespective of the Party of Regions’ position, the
bill will be passed.
