FC Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Mircea Lucescu says if the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) officially proposes him to coach the Ukraine's national team, he is going to reject such offer. However, he is ready to advise the team coach staff on some or other issues, Lucescu told the press on Wednesday.

The Shakhtar manager reminded his contract with the club is in effect for one and half year yet, and a coach of the national team must be neutral having nothing to do with the Donetsk club or Dynamo Kyiv.

As reported, President of the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) Hryhoriy Surkis said he would like to see FC Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu as the head coach of Ukraine squad.

“I would not like to produce my own opinion to wide public, but I am ready to offer the post of head coach of the national team to the most successful manager over the past 5 years among those working in Ukraine. I see just Lucescu as successor of Mykhailychenko,” Surkis said.

The FFU chief also added that his proposal has to be considered by the FFU Executive Committee in mid-December.

The current Ukraine head coach, Oleksiy Mykhailychenko, earlier voiced readiness to work with the squad till the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, he said this as Ukraine failed to advance to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa (Ukraine 0-1 Greece, first leg 0-0).
