Ukraine will be able to switch to digital television broadcasting in
2010, First Vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchynov believes.
"This is a serious step and a serious contribution to the
development of communication in Ukraine," he said today during an
awards ceremony honoring television, radio and communications workers
with their professional holiday.
Oleksandr Turchynov believes that introducing digital broadcasting will make it possible to save "billions in the budget."
"Moreover, I hope that next year the topic of public broadcasting
will go from being a slogan of numerous politicians to a reality," the
First Vice Premier is forecasting.
Olekdandr Turchynov presented television, radio and communication workers with certificates from the Cabinet of Ministers.
"We live in an information society, therefore, only a country that
has access to information and can analyze it quickly is able of
competing in today's world," Oleksandr Turchynov said, congratulating
them on their professional holiday.
Today, a new teleconference center, that was built in record time, was opened in the Cabinet of Ministers.
