Ukraine's Economics Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn
and the Director of the USAID Mission to Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus,
Janina Jaruzelski, have signed September 25 a memorandum of
understanding (MOU) between the Ukrainian and US governments regarding
basic directions and objectives of the assistance program from the
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for
2009-2010, the ministry press-service reported.
Danylyshyn noted that the
USAID-funded projects are an important instrument of supporting
Ukrainian reforms, including strengthening financial sector, developing
market-oriented agriculture, supporting small and medium-size business,
addressing social problems.
"The conclusion of the memorandum will become a measure needed for gradual development of proper conditions for technical and economic cooperation between Ukraine and USAID in 2009-2010, as well as an active mechanism of attracting and using US technical assistance," the Ukrainian minister said.
