He made a statement to this
effect speaking in a 1+1 TV channel interview. "One of the patterns for
full disorganization of Verkhovna Rada's work is being carried out,"
Lytvyn says.
He expressed confidence that this is being done "to pave
the ground for introducing a state of emergency and preventing further
development of the electoral process under unfavorable conditions."
In his response to the remark that he may also have a stake in a failure of the run-off election - to become an acting president and govern the country, Lytvyn said this variant is impossible. He reminded that the incumbent head of state will give up his powers on the day a president-elect swears into office. The voting day is January 17, 2010.
