Creation of
a free trade zone between Ukraine and Canada will contribute to deepening of
economic cooperation between the two countries. The Prime Minister of Ukraine
Yulia Tymoshenko informed during her meeting with Minister of International Trade
of Canada Stockwell Day.
Yulia
Tymoshenko emphasized that Ukraine and Canada had to devise a new format of
bilateral cooperation that envisages elaboration of joint projects the
realization of which could grade crisis phenomena in economics of both
countries.
Furthermore,
Yulia Tymoshenko aired that the team of Ukrainian Government is into
improvement of investment climate. According to her, Ukraine is concerned to deepen cooperation
with Canada in energy, agriculture as well as to realize
joint projects in space exploration domain.

Tymoshenko added one more priority line of cooperation between Ukraine and Canada appears collaboration in the area
of health protection. “But I am convinced our cooperation in all branches of
economics can be more effective if we build a free trade area between our
countries,” the Head of Government underlined.
In his turn
Stockwell Day noted
that ministries of economics of Ukraine and Canada had already achieved understanding
on launch of negotiation process into signing of Agreement on free trade zone
between the two countries.
He also
announced that it is significant for Canada to develop and deepen economic
cooperation with Ukraine. The Minister of International
Trade of Canada singled out the activity of the Government of Ukraine in the
direction of search of environment-friendly alternative energy sources.
In
addition, he stressed on the importance of realization of a joint
Ukraine-Canada project in aerospace domain on launch of Ukrainian communication
satellite. According to him, it is crucial this project to be realized before
holding of the finals of European Football Championship of 2012.
