The main service for social and economic development under the Presidential Secretariat has accused Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and her government of the excessive attraction of loans, Ukrainian radio reported.

"The pace of loans attracted [by Tymoshenko's government] has been a record one since the cadence of the previous governments. The state debt grew by 12.9% in 2006-2007, but since 2008, it has grown by 2.6 times, reaching nearly UAH 185 billion (UAH 7.99 / USD 1) as of July 31, 2009. This is 96% of the limit determined by the law on the state budget for 2009," reads the statement.

According to calculations by the presidential service for social and economic development, in January-July 2009, the government borrowed nearly UAH 275 billion to the state budget every day.
