Ukraine will buy up 25 billion cu. m. of Russian gas in 2010, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has told the annual meeting of the World Congress of Ukrainians in Lviv, UkrInform reported.
She reminded that Ukraine would purchase 33 billion cu. m. of Russian gas this year, while in 2007 the import of Russian gas to Ukraine was 52 billion cu. m.
The Prime Minister noted that the reduction in the Russian import gas and gas replacement by coal, electricity and other alternative energy sources is the main element for Ukraine to achieve energy independence.
