Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko will address the Ukrainian people on the Independence Day, August 24, president's spokeswoman Iryna Vannykova has said, according to Kyiv Post.

"On the Independence Day, the prayer for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people will be held in the Saint Sophia Cathedral with the participation of the head of state and top officials and community leaders. A military parade along Khreschatyk Street will follow and the president will make an address to the Ukrainian people," Vannykova said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.

On August 23, the president will hold a state reception at the National Sanctuary Sophia of Kyiv with the participation of the country's leadership, diplomats and guests from all the regions of Ukraine and abroad.
