Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's address to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is aimed at escalating a crisis in relations between the two countries, rather than finding a way out of it, first Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk has told UKRINFORM.

He said that such particularly Ukrainian issues as joining NATO, language and gas transportation system had nothing to do with Russia. "This interference in the country's domestic situation is unacceptable, Kravchuk said. '

"The address reads that the Russian leadership wants to see another president in Ukraine, but this is tactless in respect to a neighboring state," he said.

Kravchuk said that the Russian president's decision to postpone the arrival of a new Russian ambassador in Ukraine is the evidence of Russia's intentions to aggravate its relations with Ukraine.
