Patriarch Kirill thanks officials for assistance during his visit to Ukraine

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill has sent a letter to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and Party of Regions leader Viktor Yanukovych to thank them for the assistance during His Holiness's pastoral visit to Ukraine, UKRINFORM reports quoting the Moscow Patriarchate press-service.

In his message to President Yushchenko Patriarch Kirill said that 'our frankly talks seem to help better understanding of needs and expectations of the believers on the part of the public authority'. The Patriarch believes that along with Ukraine we can find the ways of solving problems, which yet prevent the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from fulfilling its mission of love and peace in full, the letter reads.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church has made sure that the Ukrainian people have strong and deep belief, which can consolidate many people. He also believes that this spiritual force combined with a work in favor of the Motherland will help Ukraine overcome the global crisis. "The Ukrainian Orthodox Church, like Ukraine on the whole, has lots of unsolved problems, including those ones that had been addressed during our talk. In this connection I hope for continuation of the church-state dialogue and cooperation intended to completely take into account legal interests of the Ukrainian believers," Kirill says in his address to Premier Tymoshenko.

"A positive experience of cooperation between the Church and you and other Ukrainian politicians brings hopes that this cooperation could promote a spiritual revival of people and bring many good fruits,' Patriarch Kirill said addressing to V. Yanukovych.
