The Ukrainian authorities are "thoroughly considering" an open message by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yushchenko, according to UkrInform.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is planning to comment on the message in general, and on Medvedev's decision to postpone the arrival of a new Russian ambassador in Ukraine. The Russian president explained his decision by the "anti-Russian course of the Ukrainian leadership."

Ukraine's Presidential Secretariat has not made any comments on the message.

Medvedev earlier accused Ukraine of deviating from the "principles of friendship and partnership with Russia, stipulated in the 1997 Treaty."
