Ukraine has the potential to annually harvest 70 million tons of grain in the upcoming years, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists during her working visit to the Poltava oblast, press service of Yulia Tymoshenko reported.

"We have all we need to reach this level. We need to utilize the leading technologies for grain processing and storage. The government has a strategy for selecting the best agricultural producers, consolidating their skills and spreading this knowledge across Ukraine,” Tymoshenko said.

She also said that the government plans to involve the government sector in the development of the grain industry. “We’re geared towards the state agrarian fund not only storing but exporting grain. This is a great opportunity for filling the budget,” she said.

According to Tymoshenko, the agrarian fund should work in cooperation with Khlib Ukrainy, which owns 12% of the grain elevator capacity in Ukraine.
