Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has vetoed amendments to the law on the state budget obliging the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) to transfer UAH 9.8 billion to the state budget to finance the construction of objects ahead of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship, according to Kyiv Post.

"The Ukrainian president used his right to veto the law on introducing amendments to the state budget, according to which the NBU should send UAH 9.8 billion as an advance payment to the state budget. The law envisaged that these funds would be used to finance Euro 2012 objects," the chairman of the Presidential Secretariat's main service for social and economic development, Roman Zhukovsky, told reporters in Kyiv on Monday.
