His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia arrived in Donetsk. In front of the city’s central cathedral he was met by hundreds of believers with exclamations “Kirill is our Patriarch!”.
Many people held banners saying “For Faith and Motherland!”, “Donbass with You!”, “Orthodox is the prospect of 21st century”, “Orthodox is a way to the truth!”, “Blessed Rus, keep Orthodox faith!”.
At the moment of Patriarch Kirill’s arrival thousands of balloons were let into the air.
At Svyato-Preobrazhensk cathedral a church service was held. It was attended by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr, the Party of Regions leader Viktor Yanukovych, as well as the MPs, parishioners, inhabitants of the city and region.
