The President draws Yulia Tymoshenko's attention to the fact that according to an inspection of the Prosecutor General's Office, the level of social protection of war veterans is low in Ukraine. Cases of budget money embezzlement as well as the refusal to provide social benefits to veterans have been discovered, ForUm informs, referring to Interfax-Ukraine.
According to Viktor Yushchenko, those issues were discussed by the parliament on June 3, 2009. But the veterans are not satisfied with the government's work in this sector. No improvement has been seen in the healthcare, social and transport sectors.
The head of state has asked the cabinet to take urgent measures to improve the social protection of the war veterans.
