On Saturday President Viktor Yushchenko climbed up the Hoverla Mountain in Western Ukraine for 35th times. He did it on occasion of anniversary of announcement of Declaration on the state sovereignty of Ukraine.

The President chose the most difficult route out of two possible. He started climbing at 10.30 a.m. and reached the peak at 13.15. p.m. Together with the President thousands of supporters and members of Our Ukraine, MPs and heads of the regional administrations climbed the mountain.

Hoverla Mountain is the highest mountain in Ukraine – 2061 meters.

“Hoverla is not only the highest Mountain it is a peak of the spirit of Ukrainian nation – symbol of power and greatness,” the President said.

Before the climbing the mountain, President addressed to his supporters and all Ukrainians and informed that he is going to participate in the presidential election. He expressed confidence that he will win the presidential election with people’s support, like he did it in 2004.
