Mortality in Chernihiv oblast exceeds birth-rate by 2.4 times, in some villages even by 4 times. Under such conditions in 50 years this oblast can disappear from the map of Ukraine at all. Deputy head of the statistics department Kateryna Svistun said, ForUm informs, referring to Segodnya daily.
According to the expert, Chernihiv oblast loses the people catastrophically. According to statistic data, for 5 months of 2009 Chernihiv oblast lost 5 thousand people.
The problem exists not only with low birth-rate but also with duration of life.
According to Kateryna Svistun, Chernihiv oblast should be announced as area of demographic catastrophe. The state programs should be implemented here.
