Ukraine's President Envoy for International Energy Security, Bohdan Sokolovsky, held a meeting with an American delegation led by the U.S. Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy, Richard Morningstar. The meeting took place at the initiative of the American party, UKRINFORM reports with reference to the presidential press-service.

The parties discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the context of guaranteeing national and international energy security. Special attention was paid to Russian gas transit and supplies.

B. Sokolovsky familiarized the American delegation with the measures taken by the Ukrainian President to settle problems relative to imbalanced relations at the Ukrainian gas market and complicated gas deals of January 19, 2009.

The US side appreciated the actions of President Viktor Yushchenko. At the same time, representatives of the American delegation noted the necessity to reform the Ukrainian gas sector and expressed readiness to help solve problem issues related to gas deliveries to the Ukrainian gas transit system.
