Over the coming five or ten days, Ukrainian Defense Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov will be waiting from Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko public apologies for her unfounded, in his opinion, accusations of corruption on the basis of audit reports. Otherwise, Yekhanurov will file a lawsuit to protect his honor and dignity, Ukrinform reported.

The minister, whose resignation Tymoshenko is demanding from the President and Parliament, in his turn demands that Tymoshenko dismiss Main Control and Revision Office Chief Mykola Syvulskyi.

As reported, auditors of the Main Control and Revision Office allegedly uncovered illegal transfer of 53 defense ministry plots on a total of 266 hectares, as well as violations in the purchase of food, fuels and oils for the military.

Tymoshenko filed a motion for sacking Yekhanurov with the President's office on May 25.

President Yushchenko says there are no grounds for firing the defense minister.
