In scope of the visit to Libya, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko congratulated Libyan Secretary of General People's Committee of Libya al-Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmudi and his colleagues present at a meeting in an enlarged format on Africa Day, government portal reported.

“In your personality I wish to congratulate Lybia and all African people. I wish prosperity to the African states and Lybia, which plays a mainstream role on the African continent,” Yulia Tymoshenko stressed.

The Prime Minister considers a positive sign that her official visit and high-level meetings are being held these days.

However, Yulia Tymoshenko noted: “It’s a pity the signed agreements haven’t had proper development but I’m persistent about introducing them in reality. The same intention is the intention of my team”.

The Premier emphasized for Ukraine the most valuable appears independence and sovereignty but to preserve all this is possible only on condition of energy independence. Yulia Tymoshenko stressed on the need to diversify energy carriers and invited the Libyan party to participate in building of petroleum refinery in Odesa, in the area of Pivdenny port. According to the Head of Ukrainian Government, realization of this project and building of a network of petrol stations will enable triggering a complete cycle of oil-processing.

Also Yulia Tymoshenko invited Lybian investors to participate in privatization of Odesa Port Plant. The Premier stressed for Lybian investors it will be an additional possibility to get to the European markets.

Yulia Tymoshenko considers Ukraine and Lybia have cooperation prospects in nuclear energy area either. She noted Ukraine possesses huge professional cadre potential for that.

In view of the fact that for Lybia and African countries grain procurement is a key topic, the Prime Minister proposed to the Lybian side to build in Ukraine a complex in production, storing and transportation of up to 4 million tons of grain, for which a respective project has been readied. This direction, according to the Prime Minister, can be a priority line in Ukrainian-Lybian economic cooperation.

The third crucial cooperation line between the two states, as Yulia Tymoshenko sees, is aircraft building which will give chance to explore markets in the African countries and Arab countries. The Premier noted this market is highly remunerative and added she would like the two states to be partners in this domain.

Moreover, Yulia Tymoshenko imparted that Ukraine is capable of producing and repairing high-precision equipment, which is opening an opportunity for cooperation in military-technical domain.

The Ukrainian and Lybian party have agreed on holding a meeting of Ukrainian-Lybian economic commission in July of current year in Ukraine.
