Ukrainian Defense Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov has denied a report by Main Control and Revision Office Head Mykola Syvulsky about corrupt schemes at his ministry, and expressed hope that this question would be honestly considered by the Prosecutor General's Office, ForUm informs, referring to Interfax-Ukraine.

"I hope [this question] will be considered at the Prosecutor General's Office honestly and in line with law. The difference lies in the fact, [Prime Minister] Yulia Volodymyrivna [Tymoshenko], that the Prosecutor General's Office will consider this question in line with law, and there are no presidential candidates there. Thus, I hope they will provide clear explanations on this issue," he told the premier.

Syvulsky said in his report that cases of abuse worth around UAH 11.2 million had been found after checks conducted on the ministry's activity in 2008. He said that the ministry was involved in corrupt schemes with over 300 hectares of land in various Ukrainian regions.
