The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a law which imposes a ban on gambling business in Ukraine.
340 out of 442 MPs, registered in the session hall, voted for the corresponding law, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.
The law was initiated by MP from the Party of Regions Hryhoriy Smityukh and MP from the BYuT Valeriy Pysarenko.
The law bans not only the gambling business, but also participation in gambling. At the same time, organization and lotteries, creative and sport contests, billiard, and other games, which are carried out without awarding prizes to its participants, were not banned.
In accordance with the law, business objects, which organize and carry out gambling in Ukraine, are punished with a fine at 8 thousand minimum wages, with confiscation of gambling equipment.
The law comes into force since the day of its publication.
Within three month the Cabinet of Ministers is charged to elaborate special draft law on gambling business in Ukraine and special territories where gambling will be allowed,
