Transit of natural gas through Ukrainian territory in January-April 2009 came to 23.2 billion cubic meters, which was half of the volume in transit for the same period of 2008, the Fuel and Energy Ministry told Interfax, Kyiv Post reported.
Import of gas to Ukraine in the four months fell by 55% to 28.1 bcm. Of this amount, imported gas for domestic Ukrainian usage fell by 73%
According to the gas agreement signed in January of this year, total natural gas transit through Ukraine's gas transport system to European countries and Moldova should come to 120.83 bcm in 2009, 29.49 bcm in the first quarter, 30.333 bcm in the second quarter, 27.115 bcm in the third quarter and 33.145 bcm in the fourth quarter.
