The Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko explained his decision to resign from the position of the Interior Minister by his unwillingness to continue political scandal around he and his son in Ukraine. He said that today at the press conference in Kyiv, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

“In relation that dirty campaign is being held against me and my son, I addressed to the PM and parliament in order to resign,” Lutsenko said.

Lutsenko noted that incident in Frankfurt airport was settled after excuses from the German side, however the day after that incident, the yellow press in Germany publicized false information about what happened. According to him, German police denied information of “Bild” about alcohol intoxication of Yuriy Lutsenko and his son.

“Later that incident turned into political scandal in Ukraine,” he said.

“I became a victim of the situation which turned to be a political scandal and I am not going to continue it,” he added.

Lutsenko intends to suit against German newspaper “Bild” for false information about him and his son.

At the same time, answering the question, whether Lutsenko had alcohol, he said that on his arrival to the airport, he had dinner and had some beer.

The Interior Ministry denied information of the German mass media concerning inappropriate behavior of Yuriy Lutsenko and Ukrainian delegation..

As a reminder, according to German media, police on May 4 arrested Yuriy Lutsenko in the state of strong alcoholic intoxication after a brawl with law enforcers at Frankfurt am Main Airport.

Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko's 19-year-old son was going with the Ukrainian delegation. Police, according to German media, had to put handcuffs on the son of the minister for aggressive behavior.
