The Gov’t has approved draft law “On location of gambling establishments” which bans deployment of such establishments in the inhabited localities. A respective decision was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on Thursday, during an extraordinary session on the outcomes of the trip to Dnipropetrovsk, the site of the tragedy which resulted into death of 9 people. Cabinet's press service reports.

Pursuant to the draft law, gambling establishments open before this law comes in force are prone to closing down or moving away from the inhabited localities by January 1 of 2010.

According to the Premier of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, in the course of meeting the Government will address the Verkhovna Rada Speaker with a letter containing the request to put this draft law for top-priority voting the following week. At this, the Head of Government appealed to international experience, notably of such states as

Russia

France

Switzerland

Sweden

Turkey

and

Poland

in which location of gambling business is strictly limited and regulated.
