President Viktor Yuschenko demands that the Cabinet of Ministers urgently ensure the start of operation of the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline toward Brody. Yuschenko said this at a meeting, according to the Ukrainian news.

"I demand that the government urgently transfer Odesa-Brody to the project regime of its exploitation, [toward Brody]. This has been stated a lot of times. I understand the political implication for blocking this regime, but I am appealing today to the common sense and the national interest. I am sure the government will find courage and wisdom to endorse this decision," Yuschenko said.

Yuschenko said Azerbaijan has again confirmed its will to give Caspian oil for the needs of Ukraine and Europe, including technical demands in oil for launching the Odesa-Brody toward Brody.

President Viktor Yuschenko on August 15, 2008, instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to secure the launch of the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline toward Brody by the start of 2009.

In May 2008, Ukraine and Azerbaijan agreed supplies of 470,000 tons of technological crude oil for the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline.
