Tymoshenko hands vouchers for flats to Chornobyl victims

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has presented with vouchers for flats the citizens who suffered in the result of the accident on the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The vouchers were presented on the occasion of putting in exploitation of a residential house №18 in Vorovsky street, in Kagarlyk, Kyiv region, according to government portal.

Making a statement for the residents of Kagarlyk the Prime Minister informed this day she would present with vouchers the citizens who were standing in the list from 1990. “I want to apologize to the families for they had to be waiting for so long, but I want to congratulate they have succeeded,” Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized. The Head of Government thanked to the builders who had managed to timely put the building in exploitation.

The Premier noted today’s event is weighty as the vouchers are given to the people who suffered from Chornobyl catastrophe and hasn’t still received accommodation promised by the state. According to Yulia Tymoshenko, despite the complicated crisis conditions the Government has found a possibility to purchase apartments for the families from Chornobyl. The Prime Minister also announced the Government would further work in this direction and realize its promises directed to providing the citizens with social housing.

Yulia Tymoshenko informed with this aim the Government had facilitated maintaining cooperation with the National Bank of Ukraine and State Mortgage Institution. According to her, this year UAH 2 bn will be directed to purchase of housing for the citizens, in particular for Chornobyl residents and multi-children families.
