President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko is convinced that gas agreement from January 19, 2009 does not satisfy either Kyiv, or Moscow.

“Neither Ukraine, nor Russia can be proud of agreement that was achieved in January 2009. This is relations which led to many disappointments,” Viktor Yushchenko said that yesterday at the press conference in Kyiv, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

According to the President, earlier the problems were decided at least in December, but now – every month.

Viktor Yushchenko noted that Russian-Ukrainian gas agreements, signed in January, are unfavorable for Ukraine, it leads to instability of gas relations in triangle “supplier-transiter-customer”. Such relations should be reconsidered.

“It is necessary to resume to gas negotiations openly, on clear principles. We do not demand any benefits, but we want market conditions – clear and transparent,” the President said.

Yushchenko noted that Russian-Ukrainian gas agreements have some skewness not for the benefit of Ukraine.
