The President of the European parliament Hans-Gert Pottering is sure that Ukraine and the European Union must draw a conclusion from the gas conflict between Ukraine and Russia in January of the current year. He said that today, speaking in the VRU at the special session, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.
The EU official reminded that gas conflict between Ukraine and Russia led to serious problems in the European countries. In this relations the У reconsiders all energetic policy and strengthens it.
The EP President is sure that the gas conflict demonstrated first of all “the key role of Ukraine in guarantying of constant gas supplies” to Europe.
He considers Ukraine must control its energy security.
At the same time Hans-Gert Pottering noted that Ukraine, as well as the EU, must develop relations with Russia on democratic basis.
