The VRU committee on the state construction and local authorities recommends the parliament to take a decision on appointment of presidential elections on October 25, 2009. The head of the committee, MP from the OU-PSD faction Oleksandr Omelchenko said that today in the parliament, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

According to him, the committee considered draft resolution on presidential election on October 25 and decided to recommend it to the parliament to adopt it.

Omelchenko called MPs to support this draft resolution.

As a reminder, different draft resolutions offer to hold presidential election on different dates: on October 25, December 27 and January 17, 2010.

The majority of the politicians and experts are for elections to be held on January 17, 2010.

President’s term is 5 years. The acting President Viktor Yushchenko was elected as a head of the state in December 2004. Officially he assumed his office in January 2005.
