On Tuesday, March 31, the VRU was considering the first part of the anti-crisis draft laws. Only two draft laws were adopted – on increase of excise-duty for tobacco products, alcohol and diesel fuel.

The parliament refused to consider the other anti-crisis documents. In particular, MPs did not vote for stabilization of the Pension system, allocation of UAH 7.7 billion to Naftogaz as compensation from the state budget.

Despite this, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko hopes for adoption of these documents on April 2. Otherwise, the government does not guarantee continuation of the negotiations on second tranche of the IMF loan, the PM said.

On Monday the President Viktor Yushchenko stated that he was sure in support of the anti-crisis laws by the OU-PSD faction. So such passive position of this faction during the voting came as a surprise. And Yulia Tymoshenko blamed OU-PSD faction for break of the voting.
