Yulia Tymoshenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine declares the European Union takes a great interest in gas transport system of Ukraine which has to be modernized, possess proper technical maintenance and function properly to transport Russian gas to Europe. She told the press in Brussels, Government portal reported.
According to Yulia Tymoshenko, her meetings with President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and German Chancellor Angela Merkel concerned a conference slated for March 23 in Brussels with participation of Eurocommission’s and Ukrainian envoys and meant to elaborate joint actions in modernization and reconstruction of Ukrainian GTS: “All of us believe in this conference to be successful”.
Besides, the Head of Government informed today, during the Summit of the European People’s Party, Ukraine and its Government had received a high mark in the issues of overcoming and settlement of gas crisis. As Yulia Tymoshenko explained, the Summit’s attendants admitted owing to the timely and effective actions of the Government “nowadays both Ukraine and the European Union are enjoying tranquility in gas area”.
