Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko held a meeting with U.S. Vice President Joseph R. Biden. The sides discussed the topical issues on bilateral relations and regional security problems during the meeting, Government portal informed.

The U.S. Vice President stressed that within the framework of his first visit to Europe as representative of the new administration of the President of the United States of America, he considered necessary to meet with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, as Ukraine’s prospects and success would determine in many respects success of the whole region. 

Joseph Biden noted the importance of constructive contribution of Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko to the resolving of gas dispute and the resumption of gas transit to the countries of the European Union.

Yulia Tymoshenko stated that she congratulates Barack Obama and his team on brilliant victory in the presidential elections and said that this creates new opportunities to strengthen partnership relations between Ukraine and the USA.

The U.S. Vice President has invited the Prime Minister of Ukraine to visit the United States of America.
