UEFA will make its final decision regarding the stadiums and schedule of the Euro 2012 European Championship in May 2009, according to the press service of the Football Federation of Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

The press service said UEFA's general secretary, David Taylor, had officially given the time frame for the selection of the stadiums.

Taylor said the final choice of the stadiums and the match schedule would be known in May this year. He said that currently, the host countries have suggested six cities, and each country will host the championship in up to four cities.

At a meeting of UEFA's executive committee, which was held on January 30 in Switzerland, it was decided that the draw for the qualifying stage would be on February 7, 2010 in a Polish city, which will be named later. The Ukrainian and Polish national teams, as the hosts, will not have to qualify.

The committee has also adopted a marketing strategy regarding selling the rights for Euro 2012.

"The European stage of the tender will commence on February 6, 2009," the statement says.
