Ukraine has almost paid for the gas for
September, Bogdan Sokolovski, authorized representative of the president on
international energy security, told journalists, IMC reported.
According to him, Ukraine paid
about 100 million dollars for September gas, and as for October, “the settling
is in the process.”
“Unfortunately, gas debt
problem remains, means haven’t been found but the work is going,” he said.
Sokolovski informed that
Naftogaz delegation is holding consultations in Moscow today.
He also reminded that Russia speaks about 2.4 billion USD of the debt,
while Ukraine
admits only 1 billion 260 million dollars.
“Probably, they include the
pumped gas also,” he noted, but added that Ukraine does not pay for gas in
advance.
He also underlined that if
the government of Ukraine
had foreseen the financial situation, it would have provided Naftogaz with
necessary means to avoid the current situation regarding the gas debts.
