Vasiunyk holding meeting with UEFA experts

The Government will fulfill all financial obligations concerning reconstruction of airports, in particular, of runways, despite the financial crisis. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Ivan Vasiunyk announced during the meeting into preparing of airports of Euro-2012 host-cities. The event has gathered directors of airports, President of Football Federation of Ukraine Hryhorii Surkis, UEFA experts Peter Hampson and Chris Vokden.

“The Government guarantees financing in full of the State Target Program despite the financial crisis. The Government will fulfill all financial obligations concerning reconstruction of airports, notably runways,” Ivan Vasiunyk said.

Moreover, Ivan Vasiunyk informed that the Government has carried out financial commitments in the part of preparing of airports to the Championship. 2008 budget contains up to UAH 1 bn for financing of various types of works in the airports of Ukraine. In total according to the general State Target Program of preparing the country to the Football Championship 2012 over UAH 2 bn 740 mn from the state budget is planned for the construction of airports. And over 5 bn – from private investments.

“The Government realizes that readying of airports, in particular, terminals is impossible without participation of private investors. That’s why the Cabinet of Ministers has outlined the spheres of responsibility of the state and the business. In December private partners are to be defined who will build terminals in Donetsk and Odesa,” Vice Premier imparted.

At the same time Ivan Vasiunyk expressed his belief that the newly formed team is capable to realize Euro-2012 program to the maximum.

According to the UEFA expert Peter Hampson by May of the following year the Union of European Football Associations expects for launch of building activities in all Ukraine’s airports.
