Tymoshenko: Ukraine returns to fair, transparent privatization

The Government intends to return to the transparent and open privatization processes. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stated at the meeting on infrastructure energy projects. “It is obvious today that we can return to the projects of fair, transparent, competitive privatization,” Yulia Tymoshenko noted.

The PM informed that Fund of State Property is preparing privatization auctions of those strategic objects which could not be put up for privatization because of artificial political circumstances. “Everybody expected that Government will fail and these strategic objects be taken for a trifling sum as usually, without investment liabilities and obligations to the labour collectives,” the Head of Government stressed.

According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the privatization will enable to attract hundreds of billions of investments for both buying these objects and their modernization, reconstruction, re-equipment. The PM also noted that returning to privatization Ukraine would have a chance to “pass softly the financial crisis”.
