Presidium of the Crimean parliament addressed the
president Viktor Yushchenko with a request to suspend the decision of the
national council on TV and radio broadcast according to which re-broadcast of
Russian channels has been banned.
The address says that the decision arouse negative reaction among Crimean citizens, who consider it to be the violation of constitutional rights for free information accessing. The parliament of the autonomy also considers that “the decision of the council is a demonstration of indirect censorship of Russian TV programs and illegal attempts to control their content.”
In this connection, the presidium of the Crimean parliament asked Yushchenko to suspend the decision and to examine this issue at a session of the National Security and Defense Council.
