Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko addressed the International Monetary Fund for financial help for Ukraine to fight the influence of the world crisis.

“We are interested in that Ukraine could get IMF financial support,” Tymoshenko said at the meeting with IMF mission head Ceyla Pazarbasioglu.

According to Tymoshenko, key export oriented industries of economy, namely metallurgy and chemisty, have lost the possibility to sell the products due to the difficult situation at the foreign markets.

The premier underlined that the financial situation in
Ukraine is “quite stable” and added that it is very difficult to keep this stable situation.

Tymoshenko also noted that deficit of the state budget for 2008 had not been financed.

In her turn, the head of the IMF mission in
Ukraine underlined that the Fund “is ready to render assistance to the countries-members of IMF.

Pazarbasioglu pointed out the potential of Ukraine and declared the readiness to assist in developing of the economic policy.

“IMF will be ready to render the financial assistance. We have good relation with your ministries and we will do everything of our terms of reference to help you to work out the economic policy,” she said.
