Representative of the committee of the National Security and Defense Council Anatoliy Hrytsenko states that the National Security and Defense Council has taken a decision concerning the army transfer to the contract basis till 2015. He told journalists at a briefing.
"It's a pity to tell that the NSDC has taken a decision which soon will appear as a decree of the President that the contract army will be built until the end of 2015. It means 7 years more," Hrytsenko said.
He also reminded that PM Yulia Tymoshenko insists on cancellation of army conscription from January 1, 2009. He also emphasized that the draft State budget for 2009 foresees that the transfer to the contract must be fulfilled until the end of 2009.
Hrytsenko urges Tymoshenko and Yushchenko to determine with the terms of completion of transfer to the contract army.
As a reminder, Yushchenko exludes possibility of transfer to the contract army from January 1, 2009.
The cancellation of conscription was planned by President Kuchma. The corresponding decree of the former President was signed in April, 2002.
