Ukraine will manage to escape sharp prices increase for gas in 2009. One of the favorable factors during signing a contract with Russia will be reduction of prices for oil which will influence price for gas.
Head of the "Naftohaz of Ukraine" company Oleh Dubina said.
According to him, the Ukrainian side doesn't hasten to sign a gas contract with Russian, as it hopes for further reduction of prices for oil.
"I think that the rate of prices increase will not be higher than it was in last two-three years. In any case, we hope for this," he said.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry stated that in 2009 the prices for gas for Ukrainian side could increase twice.
