Prime Minister of
Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko
rewarded the Ukrainian Olympians with Diplomas of the Cabinet of Ministers of
Ukraine for remarkable sports achievements and significant personal
contribution to ensuring successful performance of the national team at the
29th Olympic Games in Beijing and coaches – with Prime Minister’s Gratuities of
Ukraine.
Taking the floor at the
solemn Gov’t sitting, the Prime Minister thanked
Olympians for their courage, professionalism, perseverance with Olympic
competitions and efforts they made for every medal and victory. Yulia Tymoshenko noted that
achievements of the Ukrainian team proved once again that Ukraine “as nation is
able to reach very high results”. You went down in history of the Olympic
Games, in history of Ukraine, you highly enhanced the Ukrainian glory,” the
Head of Government stressed, Cabinet's press office reported.
According to Yulia Tymoshenko, this year the
Ukrainian team presented its country at the Olympic Games with dignity and won
a record quantity of medals during its independence -27. The Prime Minister
noted that the whole country remembers mostly the first Olympic medal gained by
judoist Roman Hnatiuk and
the first gold medal of unsurpassed women’s fencing quartet. “Just these
rewards recovered the team’s spirit and inspired us. And at that moment we made
sure that our results would be better than all forecasts,” the PM underscored.
Special gratitude for
achievements of the team at the Olympic Games the Prime Ministers expressed to
the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and its president Serhii
Bubka and said that just coaches and instructors have
contributed to the victory of sportsmen all their efforts and inspiration.
