President Victor Yushchenko wrote a letter to Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, according to the President`s press-office.

In his letter President requested the Government to include financing of Dniester hydroelectric plant construction in draft amendments to 2008 budget.

According to President Yushchenko, completion of the construction in time is very important for Ukraine’s energy security, as the plant is to be the most powerful in Europe.

For now, however, according to him, construction works are behind the schedule. Also the situation is aggravated by the fact that no agreement on credit has been reached so far with the World’s Bank and by slow resolution of territorial dispute with Moldova (a part of dam of the plant is built on Moldovan territory).

On the results President requested Prime Minister to inform him in person.
