
President Victor Yushchenko opened the meeting of National Security Council.
The agenda of the meeting includes:
- discussion on giving some territories in the west of Ukraine a status of zones of an ecological emergency situation;
- sketching urgent measures aimed at provision of Odesa-Brody oil pipeline proper functioning;
- drafting a decision of the NSDC on regulating the issue of the agreement between Ukraine and Venco International.
Opening the meeting of the NSDC President Viktor Yushchenko addressed the participants with a request to support decision of the Council on giving the regions of Ukraine, which suffered from the storms, a status of zones of an ecological emergency situation.
“I ask National Security Council to support this decision. It will provide us with the opportunity to react rapidly and effectively on the situation,” said Viktor Yushchenko.
He also informed that he would suggest declaring ecological emergency situation in six regions for a period of three months.
According to him, thus the authorities would be able to present effective and adequate response towards the results of the disaster, including in the part of distribution of funds, president's press office reported.
