According to the information of Ukraine`s Emergency Ministry, storms and floods in western regions of Ukraine have killed 22 people, including six children.

Four days of storms have flooded 40,601 houses, damaged 360 roads and 561 bridge, washed away 680.1 km of highways, and cut electricity in five western regions (the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Zakarpattya, and Ternopil Oblasts).

More than 8,000 people have been evacuated, and thousands are in serious danger as the water keeps rising Sunday.

"Ukraine has not seen anything like that in 100 years," First Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchynov said to journalists on Sunday.

President Viktor Yushchenko and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko have rushed to the area.
