The Government is ready to provide state guarantees to the UAH 20 billion credits for the construction of state roads. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko announced this during the selector meeting with governors in Ukrtelecom. According to her, the mentioned sum is envisaged in the amendments to the State Budget 2008: “In amendments to the State Budget we have included a separate article which enables to start attraction of credit lines this year at the sum of UAH 20 billion under the state guarantees and it is a record sum,’ as the Cabinet’s press service reports.

The Prime Minister reminded that last year’s credits under the state guarantee were attracted at the sum of UAH 4.6 billion. Yulia Tymoshenko is sure drawing of new credits would enable the building of first category state roads within the state.

Moreover, Yulia Tymoshenko informed that the State Budget the Government proposes provides 100 percent of transport taxes to be directed to maintenance of communal roads.

In addition, the Head of Government stressed that the amendments to the budget provide another proportion for the financing of roads of local and state importance - 50/50 instead of 40/60.

The Prime Minister thinks the changes in proportions of financing will afford to direct more money for financing the roads of general importance.

In addition she said the Government proposed UAH 500 million for communal roads UAH 200 million including the communal roads of the towns hosting Euro-2012.

The Prime Minister emphasized that together with changes to the State Budget the Government would initiate changes to the legislation which deals with functioning of roads.
